Description:
The three most frequent comments we get from visitors are: “I never imagined that it was this big inside!” “I love the rear kitchen! You don’t have to walk through the kitchen to get to the living room” and “Wow! Look at all the storage!” We really enjoy our fifth wheel, but now we have bought a house and will not be on the road very much any more. So we have decided to sell it. The price is $29,900. Low book is $27,035, average book is $32,635. It is exceptionally well maintained with all of its maintenance records. I have heard that a new one goes for around $75K-$80K. We may also be interested to sell our 1997 Dodge Ram with V10 gas engine. Statistics: Total Length 37’ 11” - Total Height 11’ 6” - Fresh water capacity 100 gal - Grey water capacity 100 gal - Toilet 50 gal - Water heater (gas/electric) 10 gal - Furnace propane wall heater - Electric service 50 amp/30 amp - Air conditioning (btu) 27,000 - Washer/dryer stacked - Hitch weight 2160 lbs - Dry axle weight 11,420 lbs - Total dry weight 13,580 lbs - Payload 4660 lbs - Tire Size LT215/85R16E - GAWR 16,080 lbs - GVWR 18,240 lbs Model 1996 GF37RK. Kitchen: The kitchen is wonderful! Altogether there are 56 storage cabinets inside the Alpha (and another 15 cabinets outside). The stove/oven is driven by propane, and there is also a microwave and toaster oven. There are two refrigerators and two freezers, Corian countertops, and a large spice rack. The refrigerators automatically switch over to propane when the power is removed. The washer/dryer is very convenient, the leather sofa folds out into a hide-a-bed, and the leather lounge chairs are comfortable. The television/VCR retracts back into the wall, the AM-FM cassette is broadcast to overhead speakers throughout ! the Alpha, and the 5-disc CD player plays your favorite songs. Heating: The Alpha is well insulated with R19 blanket insulation in roof and basement, block foam insulation in the side walls, and the underbelly is sealed. A residential style heat pump provides heat and air conditioning. Below about 30 degrees, gas heat is more efficient, so the heat pump automatically switches over to propane supplied from two 30 lb propane tanks. 120V AC or battery power drives forced air. We sometimes used ceramic floor heaters in the winter as a supplement. (Your electricity is already paid for at your campground site, propane is not). There is also a wall heater driven off a third 30 lb propane tank and requires no electricity. Cooling: The primary air conditioner works well when hooked up to a 30 amp site. There is a second air conditioner which can be activated at a 50 amp site by attaching a second power cord. Basement: There is a huge! storage area beneath the bedroom-bathroom that we affectionately refer to as the “basement”. There is ample room for suitcases, golf clubs, a bicycle, etc. etc. Towing: The Alpha tows exceptionally well due to its three axles, as opposed to two axles on less expensive rigs. The hydraulic brakes were replaced and have very few miles on them. I am employed as a contract engineer. As such, I travel to a site for several months until the work runs out and then move to the next job. The Alpha has served us very nicely for this purpose. But now we are homeowners and plan to stay in High Point, NC until retirement. A 1997 list shows there are 53 Alpha dealerships in 21 states and Canada. Please call me at 336 471-5282 cell or 336 878-4121 work. Happy trails! Gary Himmelwright.
