Here’s your chance to own a highly sought-after Freightliner Cabriolet Sport Chassis! This truck is a 2001 model, but has a brand new remanufactured Cat 3126 from 1999, which means no e-Log if you want to use it as a commercial vehicle! This engine comes with a one year, unlimited mile warranty. It has been down the road for one month and 1,000 miles since the engine swap. The 300-horsepower engine is mated to a 6-speed Allison push-button automatic transmission, with an exhaust brake and locking differential. It has airbags on the rear axle, and the cab and front seats are also air-ride. It does have a switch on the dash to deflate the airbags for ease of hooking to a trailer. Speaking of which, it has a built-in back-up camera and monitor. The brakes are hydraulic, with an air parking brake. It has an 8,000 lb front axle and a 12,000 lb rear axle, for a GVWR of 20,000 lbs.

This hauler gets about 13 mpg empty, and I get 7-8 mpg pulling a 40’ heavy trailer. It does have air tabs installed on the top and on the trailing edge of the cab, which gives a lot more stability in high winds and passing or drafting semi’s. They also help with mileage. It comes equipped with a heavy gooseneck ball and a 20,000 lb. Reese fifth wheel. On the back, it’s got a standard receiver hitch, as well as a custom heavy-duty receiver (custom hitch included). It has a Tekonsha Prodigy 3 electric brake controller that also works for electric over hydraulic brakes, and has proportional braking. This really is the best controller available.

This truck has seatbelts for five, and the rear bench seat doubles as a bed, so you can take the family along, or have a comfortable place to sleep. The rear bench does have a power-reclining feature that makes a double bed. Although the motor operates, it is bound up and currently does not recline. I have not tried to fix it, because it makes a great 1-person bed the way it is. It does have installed a microwave and refrigerator which do work, but I have not used either one.

This truck has a nice stereo with bluetooth, aux and USB inputs, and it is satellite radio ready, including antennae. There also is a built in CB radio.

The aluminum Sport Chassis bed has tons of storage and is in typical shape for a bed of this age. There is a little damage to the bottom of the fairing and the first cabinet on the driver’s side from the previous owner (see pics). There are a few cracks in the bed, most of which have been professionally repaired. This is typical of an aluminum bed. There is also a large storage compartment on the bed that runs the width of the bed, with doors on each side. My family of five took this on our Christmas trip, and all of our luggage fit in this one cabinet.

All tires are good virgin tires. We just put a whole new air conditioning system on it including compressor, dryer and lines. I’ve also replaced the alternator. The master cylinder and brake booster were replaced. In the 80,000 miles I’ve had it, preventative maintenance (lube, oil, filters and systems check) was performed every 5k-7k miles.

This is by no means a show truck, but it is a very solid truck that shows typical scratches and dings for a truck this age. The interior is in very good shape for it's age. It is a good looking truck that would do well to pull a horse trailer, race trailer or camper. The ’99 engine would be ideal for hotshot.

I have owned this truck for 13 months and I like it a lot, but I need to move up to a bigger truck and frankly, this one is too nice for what I do. This truck is under a commercial lease, and they would be willing to lease it to the new owner if you have good credit. If you’re buying it outright, you’ll send certified funds or wire transfer directly to the leasing company and they’ll pay me the difference. We can get the title to you quickly. If it’s paid for, I’m happy to consider delivering it for a reasonable price. Thanks for your consideration.
